The International Workshop on Biobehavioral Nursing and Digital Health

On June 12, 2026, the Department of Nursing, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), in collaboration with the Asian and Pacific Alliance for Nursing Education (APANE), successfully hosted the International Workshop entitled “From Data to Care: Integrating Biobehavioral Nursing and Digital Health.” The workshop brought together nursing scholars, faculty members, researchers, and students to explore emerging developments in biobehavioral nursing, digital health, and innovative approaches to healthcare.

The workshop featured three distinguished international speakers. Professor Oleg Zaslavsky, Director of the Digital Health Innovation Hub at the University of Washington School of Nursing, delivered a presentation entitled “From Discovery to Deployment: Building Trust in AI through Nursing Expertise.” His talk highlighted the critical role of nursing knowledge in the development, implementation, and evaluation of trustworthy artificial intelligence applications in healthcare.

Professor Chao-Pin Hsiao from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University, presented “Biobehavioral Science and Precision Care,” introducing current advances in biobehavioral research and discussing how precision care approaches can improve health outcomes through individualized interventions.

Professor Dong Yanhong Catherine from the National University of Singapore shared insights on “Heart-Brain Connection for Cognitive Longevity,” emphasizing the relationship between cardiovascular health and cognitive aging and discussing strategies to promote cognitive well-being throughout later life.

In addition to the keynote presentations, participants engaged in an interactive research consultation and discussion session. Faculty members, researchers, and students had the opportunity to exchange ideas directly with the invited scholars, discuss ongoing research projects, and explore potential international collaborations.

The workshop provided a valuable platform for interdisciplinary learning and international academic exchange, fostering dialogue on the integration of nursing science, digital health technologies, and innovative healthcare solutions. Participants expressed strong interest in future collaborative opportunities and continued engagement with global nursing scholars.

APANE remains committed to promoting international collaboration, academic exchange, and innovation in nursing education throughout the Asia-Pacific region. We extend our sincere appreciation to all speakers, participants, and organizers for contributing to the success of this workshop.
